CLARKE: WE WANTED TO MAKE AMENDS FOR DERBY LOSS
Harry Clarke helped Charlton Athletic to a 2-0 win at Leicester City on Saturday and was left frustrated that he had a goal chalked off.
The 24-year-old right wing-back, who arrived in the January window on loan from Ipswich Town, assisted Sonny Carey’s opener.
Before that Clarke had headed in Carey’s corner but referee Andrew Kitchen disallowed it for a foul on Jakub Stolarczyk. Replays showed that no Addicks player had impeded the Foxes goalkeeper.
“Don’t get me started,” said Clarke. “I said to the ref it was his own man that blocked the keeper. He didn’t believe me.
“Hopefully I get another chance. There is not much more I can say.
“It was a good result. We wanted to put it right after last weekend. Right before the game we said a clean sheet wins it.
“Our front boys were top. We had our game plan and another red card (for Caleb Okoli) makes it easier. We knew they struggled from crosses and long balls - we stuck it on them and got the goals.
“We had come away from what we are good at in the last couple of games. This week we went back to basics - winning our duels and outrunning people. Ultimately it worked.”

WEDNESDAY EVENING DRAMA - FOLLOWED BY COADY CAPTURE
There was loads of player trading activity in midweek and we covered it all on a podcast that night - which can be found here.
To summarise, the Addicks made two additions, Stockport County winger Jayden Fevrier on loan and the permanent transfer of Gateshead goalkeeper Tiernan Brooks.
Rob Apter and Isaac Olaofe joined Bolton and Stockport on loan with Ashley Maynard-Brewer, due to be out of contract in the summer, linking up with Dundee United.
Charlton boss Nathan Jones talked to this website about the temporary exits of Apter, who assisted Corey Blackett-Taylor’s winner for Wanderers at AFC Wimbledon on Saturday, here.
The Addicks confirmed on Thursday morning that they had signed Conor Coady on loan from Wrexham until the end of the Championship campaign.
WOMEN DRAW AT SHEFFIELD UNITED
Charlton Athletic saw their lead at the top of WSL 2 cut to three points after a 1-1 draw at Sheffield United on Sunday.
The Addicks are still undefeated in their league campaign but second-placed Birmingham City won 5-1 against Nottingham Forest.
Charlton are back in action on February 8 when they host Forest.
Amy Andrews headed the Blades in front in the 26th minute, only the seventh goal conceded by Karen Hills’ team in their 13 WSL matches.
Lucy Fitzgerald made it 1-1 in the 44th minute.

LOOKMAN SET FOR LA LIGA TRANSFER
Former Charlton youngster Ademola Lookman is poised to join Atletico Madrid before the closure of the transfer window.
There were widespread reports that the La Liga giants are set to pay £30million for the Atlanta attacker.
Lookman, who moved from the Addicks to Everton in 2015, after exploding impressively on to the first-team scene, is a Europa League winner. He scored a hat-trick for Atalanta in their final victory over Bayer Leverkusen.
Fenerbahce had been working on a deal for the Nigerian international but Atletico look set to land his signature.
NEW ACADEMY BOSS
Greg Miller has been appointed as Charlton’s new academy manager.
Miller is working his notice at Portsmouth, where he fills the same position, and will start his fresh role in March.
Miller replaces Tom Pell, who became head of academy operations at Tottenham in December.
ROUSSILLON IN AT AMIENS
Jerome Roussillon instantly fixed himself up with a new club after his short-term Charlton Athletic contract expired.
The 33-year-old left-back did not make a single first-team appearance after arriving at the south London club at the end of November.
Roussillon made his debut for French Ligue 2 side Amiens on Saturday, playing 29 minutes in their 2-1 defeat to Grenoble.
"Every experience is part of a journey,” posted the Guadeloupe international on his Instagram. “The Charlton chapter comes to an end.”
FORMER PLAYERS ON THE MOVE
Josh Davison has signed for Cheltenham Town on loan until the end of the season. The 26-year-old netted twice for Tranmere in the first half of the campaign but had not played for Rovers since the end of October.
Bolton Wanderers have added Derby County winger Corey Blackett-Taylor to their ranks on a temporary basis.

APPLETON SACKED BY SHREWS
A 1-0 loss at Cambridge United last Tuesday spelled the end of Michael Appleton’s unsuccessful spell as Shrewsbury Town head coach.
The former Charlton Athletic boss lasted less than a year in charge of the Shrews, who had won just one of their last 11 league fixtures.
Appleton was only Addicks head coach for four-and-a-half months before he was dismissed in January 2024.
Richard O’Donnell, one of his backroom staff at Charlton, has also been let go by Shrewsbury, who had been smashed 5-1 at MK Dons the previous weekend.

RYLAH A DERRY BOY
Henry Rylah has joined Derry City on loan.
The winger’s stay with the League of Ireland Premier Division club runs until December as the season starts on February 6 and runs over the summer.
Rylah was part of Derry’s training camp in Spain.
Their manager Tiernan Lynch said: “He’s got loads of energy and is capable of getting fans off their seats. The fact he is comfortable in a number of positions will also be a big help.
“Charlton have been very good to work with getting this deal over the line and I have no doubt that his time here can benefit all parties.”
