"Football is my life - I wouldn't have taken this move if that wasn't the case" - Charlton Athletic loan signing Conor Coady fully focused on Championship safety mission
On-loan Wrexham defender got rave reviews from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, James Ward-Prowse and George Dobson on Addicks boss Nathan Jones
There is a widespread belief that Conor Coady is destined to move into the media when his playing days are over, but Charlton Athletic’s new loan signing has insisted he still has a burning desire to achieve more in the game.
The 32-year-old has twice won promotion from the Championship with Wolves and Leicester City, been capped 10 times by England and made 198 Premier League appearances.
The challenge facing Coady now is not about more glory, it is helping the Addicks show the guts and nous required to achieve safety in their first campaign back in England’s second tier.
The centre-back, added to Nathan Jones’ squad earlier this week on a temporary basis from Wrexham, could make his debut against the Foxes tomorrow lunchtime.
Coady does not see his media gigs working in any kind of detrimental manner to prolonging his playing days.
“It never has been something that detracted,” he told South London Sport: Charlton Athletic Edition.
“I like to think people don’t think it is that. At some point in my life I’m not going to be a footballer. It doesn’t last forever.
