Charlton Athletic sign Gateshead goalkeeper Tiernan Brooks - replacing Dundee United-bound Ashley Maynard-Brewer
Former Addicks stopper Rob Elliot has worked with former Republic of Ireland U21 international
Charlton Athletic have signed goalkeeper Tiernan Brooks from Gateshead to replace Ashley Maynard-Brewer, who has completed a permanent transfer to Dundee United.
Brooks, 23, has been capped by the Republic of Ireland at U21 level.
Charlton have handed Brooks a deal until the summer of 2028 - with the option of a further 12 months - and feel the shotstopper has strong development potential.
His previous clubs are Boston United, Cork City, Notts County and Rochdale AFC.
Brooks joined Gateshead in July 2024, penning a two-year contract with the National League side.

He will initially act as third-choice in the goalkeeping department behind Thomas Kaminksi and Will Mannion.
Brooks has certainly been kept busy at Gateshead, who are rock bottom of the table. They have conceded 65 goals in 27 league matches - with a seven-point gap to safety.
He kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 win over AFC Wimbledon in the FA Cup first round in October.
Charlton striker Dan Kanu, on a season-long loan at Walsall, scored a penalty past him as the non-leaguers bowed out in the second round of the competition.
