Charlton Athletic play their second WSL match of the 2026-27 season on Sunday and will be hoping to have a far more enjoyable experience against Merseyside-based opposition than last weekend.
The Addicks earned their top-flight spot with a penalty shootout victory against Leicester City in the play-off decider in May.
But their first match back on the big stage turned into a painful one as Liverpool inflicted a heavy defeat - winning 4-0 at The Valley.
Now Karen Hills’ side travel to Goodison Park to play Everton this weekend. It is a 2pm start. The Toffees lost 1-0 at Crystal Palace in their first fixture.

Charlton had just 24 per cent possession against Liverpool and finished with an xG (expected goals) of 0.08.
They never looked like bouncing back after falling behind in the eighth minute, goalkeeper Sophie Whitehouse pushed a cross into the path of Grace Fisk to score the first of her brace.
Charlton only had six touches in the Liverpool box and all of those were in the first 45 minutes. In the second half the Addicks were unable to build any kind of momentum or produce breaks forward.
Hills told South London Sport: Charlton Athletic Edition: “If you’ve watched us over the past 18 months, we have never really been the ball-playing team. So last season put us in a good position to take that model going forward.
