Matty Godden reckons Charlton Athletic’s players have to take responsibility for pulling the team out of their Championship slump.

The Addicks are 21st in the table after Tuesday night’s 1-0 home reverse to Bolton Wanderers.

The SE7 outfit have gone 11 matches without a victory in the league, six of those losses.

Charlton have one more chance to end that barren spell before the international break, with Sheffield United visiting The Valley on Saturday.

Godden has won promotions out of League One with Coventry City and the Addicks. He has played 325 matches in the EFL.

“We have to dig in and find something,” Godden told South London Sport: Charlton Athletic Edition. “It is not going to come from just a little bit of magic. I’ve been in these situations before and it’s only the team, within these four walls, that can turn it around.

“We’ve got some young boys out there but in football there are no hiding places, that’s just the reality of it.
