'We got some offers' - Heracles Almelo technical director on Ivan Mesik's transfer to Charlton Athletic and how south Londoners were not first club to bid for Slovakian international
Defender has a presence which can strike fear into an opponent
Heracles Almelo technical director Ernest Faber has revealed that Charlton Athletic were not the only club trying to sign Ivan Mesik.
The 25-year-old defender became the Addicks’ first incoming business of the current window when his transfer was confirmed on June 30.
South London Sport: Charlton Athletic Edition exclusively spoke to Faber, who is also head coach of the Dutch club, about Mesik.
Heracles, based in the eastern section of the Netherlands, were relegated from the Eredivisie at the end of last season.

Mesik has featured in both of Charlton’s opening friendlies as a left-back, playing 45 minutes in each.
Faber is convinced that the deal taking the Slovakian international to SE7 is one that is beneficial to all parties. And he confirmed there were other bidders for Mesik, whose career had already taken him to Italy, Norway and Denmark before he joined Heracles in 2024.
