Saturday afternoon’s 3-0 win over Blackburn Rovers matched Charlton Athletic’s biggest margin of victory in the Championship since October 2019 against Derby County (also the same scoreline at The Valley).

And the hosts should have had more goals this weekend. Hungarian goalkeeper Balazs Toth made four saves while Reece Burke also somehow contrived to put a close-range opportunity over when the Addicks were only leading 1-0.

But unlike the matches against Leicester City (0-1) and Millwall (1-1), Charlton did eventually get their just rewards.

Sonny Carey and James Bree struck in the closing stages to add to Macaulay Gillesphey’s 31st-minute opener. The scoreline reflected the Addicks’ superiority.
