No need to just call him 'Trialist' anymore....Nathaniel Chalobah signs 12-month deal with Charlton Athletic
Experienced midfielder is sixth signing made by Addicks in summer transfer window
Charlton Athletic have signed Nathaniel Chalobah on a one-year contract.
The former Chelsea, Fulham, Watford, West Brom and Sheffield Wednesday midfielder, 31, had been on trial with the Addicks.
Chalobah made his first appearance in Charlton’s 2-0 friendly win at Colchester United.

He then also appeared in the second half of last weekend’s 3-0 loss to Reading.
Chalobah was listed as ‘trialist’ on teamsheets with Charlton TV also not naming him in their match commentaries.
Chalobah is the Addicks’ sixth incoming deal in the summer transfer window.
“I’m really happy to be here,” said Chalobah, who has been capped once by England and made 40 appearances at U21 level for his country.
“I’ve been training for a while now with the boys and it’s a good group of lads. I’m just glad the season’s about to start and we can get down to business.
“I’m looking to bring my experience not only to the young players, but to everyone in the building really to see if we can achieve something together.”
Chalobah started in Fulham’s academy before joining Chelsea’s set-up at the age of 10. He went on to play for both west London clubs at senior level.
During his time with Chelsea he had six loans - Forest, Middlesbrough, Watford, Burnley, Reading and Napoli.
He made 10 Premier League appearances for the Blues, all in the 2016-17 season. Watford snapped him up on a five-year contract the following summer.
Chalobah appeared 22 times in the Championship for Fulham when Marco Silva’s classy side won the title in the 2021-22 campaign.
His younger brother Trevoh is still a Chelsea player and made his World Cup debut in England’s third-place play-off win against France.

Charlton boss Nathan Jones told Charlton’s website: “We’re delighted to add Nathaniel, who has been with us for a few weeks now.
“He’s showed a real desire to want to come to the club. He has a wealth of experience at Championship level - and higher. He comes with real, real pedigree.
“We want to evolve, so we need to add certain things. He brings quality, real technical ability and experience that will only help the team and a lot of our younger players.”

Just know Rich was absolutely reveling the opportunity to mention Fulham 🤣
Hoping he will play a similar role to Conor Coady - whose on field leadership and guidance was evident.
