Hey Rich the athletic is reporting that textor is interested in investing… would assume they’d turn down any full takeover bid (they have done before)… any truth too it?
Morning. Yeah, saw that this morning. I’m trying to do a bit of digging on it but my initial reaction is why would they sell? Textor wanted full control at Palace (he didn’t have that) and so the current investors would need to be happy to let him run the show. Brener has been in regular attendance and seems to be loving the CAFC experience.
Even if you just think about billionaires and their egos (they’re usually massive, which kind of fair enough) why on earth would Friedman (net worth approx $6 billion) give full control to a guy worth 2/3rds of that? Surely he has a pretty sweet ride at the moment, has operation control, has another billionaire beside him to mitigate any risk and doesn’t get blamed if things don’t go well.
Surely for Textor Weds or Watford make more sense? Both need new owners (the guys at Watford clearly are focused on Udinese, lovely stadium in a nice city btw) and would allow him to take full control…
Just worth digging into I thought… just can’t see a world in which they sell right now… club is on the up, they’ll be able to flip it for a lot more than £40 million if they can get it up to the prem.
