His father was notorious for not scoring many goals until his breakthrough season under Gritt and Curbs in 91/92, when we played to his strengths and actually got crosses in. Right footers getting to the byline and crossing from the right, left footers crossing from the left. Scott Minto being one of those providing Carlo with service.

Modern inverse wingers made life much harder for traditional number 9s.

Great article as always. Just a heads up think there's a small typo: "So is down to Leaburn"

Did Leaburn not get an assist for the TC goal at West Ham?

It doesn’t show as an assist on the stats sites. It’s a valid point though as his pressure on Mavrapanos popped the ball loose.

On top of this the winner vs Derby and equalizer vs West Brom were also created largely due to Leaburn, and the same would have been the case on Saturday had TC converted Tickles spill. Leaburn is absolutely having a massive impact on the goals and chances we’ve had this season.

Yeah I’d agree with that. But I wanted to ask Nathan about Miles’ lack of chances in games. That’s not for one minute me saying that he isn’t doing a good job in many other aspects. It feels like he gets very little service to do damage in the box from crosses etc.

Oh for sure, this wasn’t criticism of you at all Rich, just some added context for the original comment :)
