Charlton Athletic have had seven former Luton Town players on their books since the start of last season following the signing of Amari’i Bell on Friday morning.

The other additions made that had previous Hatters links are Thomas Kaminski, Lloyd Jones, Danny Hylton, Luke Berry, Dan Potts and Allan Campbell.

Only Kaminski, signed in this transfer window from the Bedfordshire club for an undisclosed fee, has not worked before with Addicks boss Nathan Jones.

Vice-captain Jones was brought to SE7 before his namesake’s arrival.

Bell, 31, spent four years with Luton Town but was released following their relegation to League One in May.

And it was the now Charlton Athletic manager who brought the Jamaican international to Kenilworth Road in 2021 from Blackburn Rovers - admitting at the time that the player had been a target for more than a year.

South London Sport: Charlton Athletic Edition spoke to Lewis Williams from the We Are Luton Town website to learn more about Bell.

WHAT’S YOUR REACTION TO THE SIGNING?

Williams: I am surprised he has been able to secure a Championship move because towards the back end of his time at Luton, probably due to the amount of injuries he sustained in the past two years, he has definitely lost that yard of pace.

I didn’t think he was quite up to the speed of Championship football but, then again, if he has got a fast left wing-back and he plays as a left-sided centre-half, which I think Nathan would look to do, then he would be okay.
