Kayne Ramsay says he “cannot wait” to be back in action for Charlton Athletic and is hoping to make his return after next month’s international break.
The defender, 25, has signed a new four-year contract which commits him to the SE7 club until the summer of 2030.
Ramsay is working his way back from an ankle injury suffered in one of the final training sessions before the Championship opener against Derby County.
The former Southampton youngster has made 80 appearances for Charlton since signing from Harrogate Town in February 2024.
“I love the manager. I love all the players. It just feels like home,” said Ramsay, talking about ending any uncertainty over his long-term future. “We are looking very ambitious, especially the way we are playing and starting the season well, with two wins in the league. The Tottenham game was tough but it’s still a great experience for the players who played.

“I think we have a good chance of doing something here. Obviously the first season is always going to be hard, just being promoted, but now we know where we are it is easier, because you have played against the players before, you know how to play and deal with certain situations. You know how cut-throat the division is.
“At the start of last season we had that bounce of winning at Wembley. Teams didn’t really know Charlton at that time. Now we have done a season and teams get to know how we’re playing. But in pre-season we have been elevating things. We have a different style - whether that is playing in behind or playing a back four or back five. We can stretch teams. We can go up, around or through them. It is about having different ways of winning games.”
