Charlton scored their first ever Women’s Super League goal but remain pointless after a 4-1 loss to London City Lionesses on Saturday afternoon.
The Addicks hosted their south London rivals at The Valley, looking to earn their first points of the season against opponents boasting two-time Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas.
The former Barcelona midfielder’s first visit to SE7 was the WSL game of choice on BBC Sport, with ex-England internationals Fara Williams and Alex Scott among a number of established women’s players on and off the pitch.

Eder Maestre’s star-studded side tested Charlton early on. Play-off hero Sophie Whitehouse was called into action after just seven minutes as she saved well from a corner that had come from a key block from Elisha N’Dow.
Charlton’s Jodie Hutton tested Elene Lete Para, with the Spanish goalkeeper having to push the ball out for a corner.
However it was London City that struck first, with marquee summer signing Putellas playing a fine ball to Isobel Goodwin, who finished calmly into the bottom left-hand corner after 13 minutes.
