'I'll put some glad rags on now...but what I will do tonight is sleep well' - Nathan Jones elated but exhausted after Charlton Athletic make sure of Championship status for next season
Addicks boss also asked if he wants to keep match-winner Jayden Fevrier beyond this season
Nathan Jones reckoned he might be too exhausted to celebrate Charlton Athletic sealing their Championship status for next season and revealed he had endured sleepless nights in the lead up to today’s 2-1 victory over Hull City.
Charlie Kelman and Jayden Fevrier scored for the Addicks, the first time the team has netted more than once in a match since January 31, as they moved on to 53 points.
Even a point would have been enough to make sure that the SE7 outfit did not make an immediate return to England’s third tier.
Oxford United have been relegated despite a 4-1 win against Sheffield Wednesday.
Charlton, 19th in the table, have ensured there is no anxiety-riddled final day at Swansea City next Saturday as they halted a seven-game run without a victory.
Kelman’s seventh goal of the season - a top-quality strike from the edge of the penalty area - put the Addicks into a 20th-minute lead.

John Egan headed in a deep Paddy McNair corner just seconds before the half-time whistle to make it 1-1.
Fevrier restored the south-east London club’s advantage on 68 minutes. The Stockport County loanee beat Hull goalkeeper Ivor Pandur after dribbling along the edge of the penalty area to create the shooting opportunity.
Asked by South London Sport: Charlton Athletic Edition how he would celebrate, Jones said: “All my best mates came up last night. I had two shandies on the river and had to get an early night. They were desperate to kick on. So, one, I will have to try and control them. Two, I’ve got to be honest with you, it’s very difficult to get drunk on nights like this because you are so exhausted.
