Nathan Jones is coming up for a major milestone as a manager - 500 matches.

The 53-year-old will make it 496 games as a boss when his Charlton Athletic team take on Sheffield United this weekend.

Jones has made it clear he is under absolutely no illusions that the pressure stakes have risen off the back of an 11-match winless run in the league, the longest of his managerial career.

Saturday’s visit of the Blades will be his 139th game as Addicks boss since he succeeded Michael Appleton in February 2024.

There was no lack of passion from Jones when he spoke to South London Sport: Charlton Athletic Edition today at the club’s Sparrows Lane training ground.

And he is acutely aware that scrutiny will only intensify if Charlton cannot get a first victory since August 29.

But Jones has not sought any assurances from Global Football Partners about his position.
