I can't quite get my head around the 3rd place play off scenario. I get that the 3rd place team plays someone from the league above to fight for a place in the top league, but surely it wouldn't be the bottom club, otherwise you're giving the bottom club a chance to survive but 2nd and 3rd from bottom just get relegated with no chance to play for it. I'm getting it a bit mixed up somewhere

The league is expanding. Two more clubs going into it next season. Only one relegation spot which might not be a relegation if the WSL 2 loses.
Guess that was the WSL1 compromise to increase the division teams.
