Jason Pearce guided Charlton Athletic U18s to major silverware last season but the former centre-back is not one to relax after the team clinched the Professional Development League national title.

The 38-year-old former Addicks captain is full of ambition - not just for himself as he makes his way along the coaching pathway but also for the youngsters he is trying to shape into professional footballers.

Pearce played 564 matches in the EFL, 175 of them for Charlton, before retiring in June 2022 to become the club’s U18 coach. He was promoted to senior professional development phase lead coach at the end of that season.

Pearce does not hide his aspirations to eventually be in a first-team role in SE7. And that has seen him turn down interest from elsewhere.

“I had an opportunity to leave the football club not so long ago and the club showed faith in me,” he told South London Sport: Charlton Athletic Edition.
