'I know what I want to do after football - but I've still got a lot to give as a player'
Jake Forster-Caskey on attending PFA pre-season training programme, future coaching ambitions and backing Charlton Athletic to become stable Championship club
Jake Forster-Caskey has talked about his decision to join the PFA’s pre-season training programme as the former Charlton Athletic midfielder looks to resolve his future.
The 31-year-old is a free agent this summer after being released by Stevenage.
And that entitles Forster-Caskey to take advantage of the Professional Footballers’ Association camp, which runs from the end of June until September 4.
He is not the only former Addicks player on the 2025 version, with Wembley goal hero Patrick Bauer, let go by Preston North End, also attending along with fellow centre-back Sam Lavelle, who signed for Grimsby Town on Friday.
Goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, a transfer target for Charlton last summer before he opted for Everton, has attended a session while former Reading and West Brom attacker John Swift had a two-week stay on the PFA programme before signing for Portsmouth.
Forster-Caskey, who made 128 appearances for the Addicks between 2017 and 2023, is hoping for a similar happy ending to the likes of Swift and Lavelle.
