'His shot-stopping ability is outstanding'
Luton Town reaction to Charlton Athletic's summer transfer window swoop for goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski
Belgian stopper Thomas Kaminski is Charlton Athletic’s second signing of the summer following his arrival from Luton Town.
The goalkeeper, 32, arrives on a three-year deal following the Hatters’ relegation to League One at the end of last season.
Kaminski spent two seasons at Kenilworth Road – impressing during Luton’s solitary campaign in the Premier League after joining from Blackburn Rovers in the summer of 2023.
He kept 11 clean sheets in the Championship last term despite Town making it back-to-back relegations.
Kaminski has made just shy of 200 appearances in the top two tiers of English football for Blackburn and Luton – with most of his career before that played out in his native Belgium.
He has also made one appearance for his national side – coming off the bench during the closing stages of a 0-0 friendly against Republic of Ireland.
South London Sport: Charlton Athletic Edition spoke to Lewis Williams from the We Are Luton Town website to learn more about the Addicks’ new goalkeeper.

WAS HE ALWAYS EXPECTED TO LEAVE LUTON TOWN THIS SUMMER?
Williams: It was pretty much dead certain. We all knew he was basically a Championship-level quality keeper. With him still playing for Belgium - although he hasn't had any call-ups recently - I can imagine he still wants to play at the highest level so that he can still get those call-ups.
His dad passed away recently, so I didn't know if he was going to move back home due to family reasons. I couldn't imagine he was going to play League One this upcoming year.
HOW WOULD YOU SUM UP HIS TIME AT KENILWORTH ROAD?
Williams: He was outstanding in the Premier League season. At the time I didn't really know what to expect, because he just stopped being number one choice at Blackburn.
I was open-minded on what to expect from him because I knew he was going to be busy [in the Premier League]. His shot-stopping ability is one of the best I've ever seen in a Luton shirt.
