'He was unlucky not to start' - Charlton Athletic boss Nathan Jones on goal hero Charlie Kelman
Striker "trained outstandingly" ahead of 1-0 victory over Birmingham City
Nathan Jones told South London Sport: Charlton Athletic Edition that Charlie Kelman’s excellent training levels meant the striker was “unlucky” not to start in today’s 1-0 win over Birmingham City at The Valley.
The former QPR striker collected his fifth goal of the season, scoring a matter of minutes after replacing Liverpool loanee Luke Chambers.
Kelman, 24, has been forced to settle for a bench role in his last four outings in the Championship.
The summer signing reacted quickly to fire past Blues goalkeeper Ryan Allsop in the 74th minute.
“He has trained outstandingly in the last three or four days,” said Addicks manager Nathan Jones. “Sometimes he says things like ‘I don’t do that’. He can be anything. I believe players can be anything they want to be.
