'He looks bereft of confidence' - We get the inside track on Charlton Athletic loanees Rob Apter and Isaac Olaofe
Drop back to League One was supposed to spark their seasons - instead summer signings have failed to ignite
Rob Apter and Isaac ‘Tanto’ Olaofe were significant investments made by Charlton Athletic in the summer transfer window.
But before the end of January, they headed out on loan as their first-team minutes looked set to be heavily restricted.
Winger Apter, snapped up from Blackpool on a four-year contract in July, joined Bolton Wanderers for the rest of the League One campaign.
Olaofe returned to Stockport County as part of a swap deal which saw Jayden Fevrier head in the opposite direction. The former Millwall striker still has two years left to run on his Addicks terms, with a club option to activate a further 12 months.
Have those temporary moves worked out? The short answer is no. With both clubs set to feature in the play-off - Bolton are already guaranteed with County only requiring a point to make mathematically sure - there is still a chance for them to contribute to something special.
Apter has been an unused substitute in three of Bolton’s last five matches. Olaofe has started in eight of his 17 appearances but did not come on in Stockport’s 2-1 loss to Port Vale last night.
South London Sport: Charlton Athletic Edition decided to get the lowdown on the pair from the respective reporters covering the two League One promotion-chasing sides.
