Isaac ‘Tanto’ Olaofe is Charlton Athletic’s third arrival of the summer transfer window - with the south Londoners paying in the region of £1.5million to secure his transfer from Stockport County.

The 25-year-old forward, who started his career with local rivals Millwall, has signed a three-year contract with the Addicks holding an option to extend those terms by a further 12 months.

Lewisham-born Olaofe scored eight goals in 42 league appearances last term as Stockport reached the League One play-off semi-finals, only to be knocked out by a Leyton Orient side who the Addicks defeated at Wembley to seal a return to the Championship.

He notched 30 goals in 103 league appearances in total for County, including 20 in their League Two-winning 2023-24 campaign.

He joined Millwall’s academy at the age of 14 but only made three senior appearances for the Den outfit. He enjoyed success during three separate loans with Sutton United and had a temporary spell in the Scottish Premiership with St Johnstone.

South London Sport: Charlton Athletic Edition spoke to Sam Byrne, who covers Stockport County for the Manchester Evening News, to find out more about Olaofe.

DID IT SEEM LIKELY HE WAS GOING TO LEAVE THIS SUMMER?

Byrne: He's got two years left [on his contract with County]. He signed a new three-year deal last summer. I believe the club had an option of a fourth year. He had quite a long time left on his deal.

It didn't seem likely that he would leave this summer. He's more than capable of making a step up, but there are other players in the Stockport squad that you felt there might be interest in before Olaofe. He wouldn't have been, for me, one that a club would have come in for. There's Ethan Pye, the young centre-half, and Lewis Bate, who signed on a free after leaving Leeds last season.
