Gilt-edged chances? More like guilt-edged as Charlton Athletic's faulty finishing lets Wrexham off the hook at The Valley
Arthur Okonkwo has kept a quarter of his clean sheets this season against the Addicks - with crucial late save denying Sonny Carey
Okay, I’ve slept on it.
But it’s left me in the same place, in terms of analysing the 1-0 loss to Wrexham, as the way I felt at full-time on Saturday evening.
The narrative did not change. Charlton Athletic had ample opportunity to win, never mind draw, and move 10 points clear of the Championship relegation zone.
The Addicks were mightily fortunate to leave West Brom in midweek with a point. Here they were incredibly unlucky not to defeat one of the division’s top form teams - Wrexham have been beaten just twice since Boxing Day and also knocked Nottingham Forest out of the FA Cup.

Charlton went into the fixture against the Welsh club with a record of not scoring more than one goal in their last 11 home league matches. Now make that 12. They have failed to score in three of their Championship matches in SE7 - the 0-0 draw against QPR at the start of last month and the 0-1 reverse to Leicester City on August 23.
