A classic cutting from the South London Press as Charlton Athletic strike deal with Serie A giant
I’ve been mulling over for a while about digging out some old stories that appeared in the South London Press.
Unfortunately the bound copies of the paper that were stored at the paper’s Leigham Court Road office in Streatham were unable to be kept as we moved into smaller and smaller premises.
I’ve got pages or photocopies of some of the stories covered during my two spells at the SLP.
And, with the international break upon us, this felt like a good time to pop one out and see if people like, dislike or are ambivalent to the idea.
This first one is from the September 17, 1999 edition and was the lead story on the back page.
Charlton fans could start seeing the first arrivals from European footballing giants Inter Milan within the next month after the two clubs signed a revolutionary player swap deal yesterday.
