Charlton start 2026-27 Championship season hosting Derby County and first away game is against title favourites West Ham United
Addicks face Millwall just before Christmas with return at Valley in April
Charlton Athletic will start their 2026-27 Championship season with a home fixture against Derby County.
The match against the Rams is on August 15.
Charlton’s first away assignment is against promotion favourites West Ham United on August 22.
The Addicks’ last visit to the London Stadium was a 3-0 loss in the EFL Cup in September 2020. The previous time they met was in the 2006-07 campaign - in the Premier League and when the east London club were still at Upton Park - Darren Bent opened the scoring from the penalty spot in their August encounter but they went on to lose 3-1.
Charlton’s only other league fixture in the opening month is at home against Preston North End on August 29.
Most supporters will quickly look for the south London derby matches against Millwall. The game at The Den is scheduled for December 19 with the return on April 3.
The home fixture against West Ham United is on March 2.
Charlton end their season at Lincoln City, promoted as League One champions, on May 1.
It seems like the fixture computer has not been kind with some of the scheduling. There is nothing to complain about when it comes to the Boxing Day game - Southampton in SE7 - but a New Year’s Day trip to Swansea City is pretty nasty.
And there are also some looooong midweek aways - Burnley (October 13), Wrexham (December 8) and Bolton Wanderers (January 26).
Derby County, the opening day opposition, finished eighth in last season’s Championship on 69 points, four shy of a play-off place.
The Rams recently signed former Liverpool youngster Bobby Clark from RB Salzburg for a fee in the region of £6m, on a four-year deal. I thought Clark impressed in both matches against Charlton last season and it looks an excellent bit of business for a player who is only 21.
The last meeting with Derby was at The Valley, a 2-1 loss in late January. Tyreece Campbell scored in the 67th minute to cut the deficit.
Nathan Jones is a Cardiff City fan and Charlton travel to the Welsh outfit on September 19. The home match is on February 20.
I’m not going to list all of the fixtures here, largely down to the fact that TV picks will move a fair few around.
