It would be a monumental shock if Charlton Athletic did not take up the 12-month extension clause in Tyreece Campbell’s contract.

And Nathan Jones’ comments on Monday to this website about the 22-year-old south Londoner indicate that nobody’s jaws are going to be dropping. His terms will be extended.

Campbell is one of the Addicks’ biggest assets, his value will rocket if he can add more end product to his other attributes, but his current deal runs until the end of June.

But the Championship club also retain the option to push his terms until the summer of 2027.

Campbell is represented by Elite Project Group, who also have Miles Leaburn as a client. Leaburn signed a fresh three-year contract in early July.

The pair have the most first-team appearances in the current Charlton squad. Campbell is on 155 matches with Leaburn on 119. The only other ones in three figures are Lloyd Jones (108) and Macaulay Gillesphey.

Charlton manager Jones has been a staunch supporter of Campbell. The Jamaican international started 19 of the opening 20 Championship matches.
