Charlton Athletic confirm pre-season friendly against Slovenian side Maribor and supporters will be able to attend
Hosts have won their domestic title 16 times and reached Champions League group stages on three occasions
Charlton Athletic have confirmed they will play Maribor in a pre-season friendly on July 10.
Addicks supporters will be able to attend the fixture in Slovenia which has a 6pm start (5pm BST). Ticket details will be released at a later date.
The match will take place at Maribor’s Stadion Ljudski Vrt, which has a capacity of 11,709.
The match is set to be broadcast on CharltonTV.
The hosts, nicknamed the Purples, finished fifth in the Slovenian top flight last season, 21 points behind champions Celje.
Maribor have won their domestic title 16 times, most recently in the 2021-22 season. That is comfortably the most of any club competing in the PrvaLiga with Gorica, Olimpija Ljubljana and the now defunct Olimpija their closest rivals with four championships.
Maribor have played in major European competitions and reached the Champions League group stages on three occasions.
They knocked Rangers out of the Europa League play-offs in 2011 and went on to take a point off Tottenham and beat Panathinaikos in group games.
They were knocked out of the 2013-14 Europa League round of 32 by eventual winners Sevilla.
Their 7-0 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool on home soil in October 2017 in a Champions League Group E fixture is their heaviest ever defeat in European football.
Charlton are heading back to Slovenia for their training camp and are set to jet off on Saturday July 4, the day after their opening friendly at Dartford.
Last summer they played HNK Gorica but the match was not open to the public.
Charlton won 2-0 with late goals. Goalkeeper Davor Matijas fumbled a Karoy Anderson corner into his own net in the 83rd minute with Ibby Fullah quickly adding a second.
