Charlton Athletic boss talks about 'tasty' deal cropping up on transfer deadline day and desire for longer-term Bree switch
Jones on Addicks' interest in Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana, explains loan recall situation and rewarding Karoy Anderson with improved contract
Nathan Jones spoke to South London Sport: Charlton Athletic Edition this afternoon ahead of Saturday’s Championship match at Sheffield United.
But as well as discussing the challenge of facing the Blades, now back under the management of Chris Wilder, there was also plenty of other things to chat about with the Addicks boss.
Jones talks in the piece (below the paywall) about Charlton’s deadline day interest in Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana, who ended up signing for Turkish top-flight club Fatih Karagumruk once the domestic transfer window had shut.

The Welshman also answered a question about why James Bree’s loan from Southampton is only until the January transfer window plus the recall situation regarding the numerous players that the south London club have out on a temporary basis.
Jones was asked in the club’s in-house media update for an injury update regarding Matty Godden, Luke Berry and Will Mannion.
“Berry is the closest (to being back), then Mannion and probably then Godden,” he said. “But we are talking minimal time between the three and hopefully we can start getting them back out. Apart from that we are in really good shape.”
Karoy Anderson, who extended his contract this week, did not make the matchday squad against Millwall.
“He had big journeys (with Jamaica) and it was a tactical decision with him,” said Jones. “He got sent off in the Cambridge game and missed the QPR one.”
Below are Jones’ answers to South London Sport: Charlton Athletic Edition.

What made this the right time for Karoy Anderson to sign a new deal? Sometimes you see it when a player is playing a lot of minutes in the league but he has only made one Championship appearance as an 89th-minute substitute.
