Charlton Athletic boss on pursuit of Liverpool's Luke Chambers, link to FC Zurich left-back and Zach Mitchell's role after loan recall from Hibernian
Nathan Jones: I will make sure that position never costs us again
Charlton manager Nathan Jones has talked about the addition of Liverpool’s Luke Chambers and revealed that the Premier League club’s thoroughness on ensuring he was ready for the rigours of playing again prevented the deal going through at the start of the winter transfer window.
The Addicks announced the loan arrival of the 21-year-old yesterday afternoon and Chambers is in line to make his debut at Millwall on Saturday.

A back problem restricted Chambers to 13 appearances for Wigan Athletic last season and he made his return to action for Liverpool’s U21 side in December. His most recent competitive game was against Charlton on March 15, a 2-1 defeat at The Valley in League One.
The Addicks’ managing director Jim Rodwell said earlier this week that Chambers, capped extensively at junior level by England and with three Europa League matches under his belt for the Merseyside giants in 2023, was their number one left-back target.
