Charlton Athletic boss Nathan Jones: 'The first-half performance at West Brom was really poor - but the most important thing is that we didn't lose the match'
Addicks lost vice-captain Lloyd Jones to injury in 1-1 draw at West Brom as Dykes earns praise for telling contribution
Nathan Jones readily conceded his Charlton Athletic side were not at their best in last night’s 1-1 draw at West Bromwich Albion.
The Addicks managed to salvage a point after Lyndon Dykes scored his second goal since arriving in the winter transfer window from Birmingham City.
West Brom right-back George Campbell headed the hosts in front from a corner deep into first-half stoppage time.
But Dykes finished off Kayne Ramsay’s through ball in the 70th minute to deny the hosts, who parted company with head coach Eric Ramsay after the match.
Charlton maintained their seven-point gap over the Championship bottom three but lost vice-captain Lloyd Jones with an injury to his left ankle before the break.
Goalscorer Dykes spoke after the match about the squad being forced to make a 10-minute walk to The Hawthorns after their coach got stuck in traffic.
“We had a real disruption before the game, getting here really late,” said Jones. “We don’t know if that affected us or not, but the first-half performance was really poor. We weren’t aggressive and we didn’t pass the ball well enough.
