Nathan Jones has talked about majorly adding to his defensive options in this month’s transfer window after further injury setbacks were suffered in Charlton Athletic’s 5-1 FA Cup loss to Chelsea last night.

Amari’i Bell pulled up with a hamstring problem and had to be replaced in the 74th minute at The Valley.

Tyreece Campbell also felt something which forced the Addicks into another change in the 82nd minute.

Charlton were without Kayne Ramsay, Reece Burke and Josh Edwards heading into the tie against Premier League opposition.

And Jones was asked by South London Sport: Charlton Athletic Edition about losing two key men in the closing stages.

Jamaican international Bell missed three matches in December with a hamstring injury and now looks a huge doubt to be available for Saturday’s home game against Sheffield United.

“He just felt it tighten up,” said Jones. “Look, this has been ongoing - we’ve had a defensive crisis for months.

“We think we’re coming through it and then we can’t risk Reece Burke today. We’ve hopefully got Kayne (Ramsay) coming back. We have to play Amari’i. We have no left wing-back, really, we have to play TC (Tyreece Campbell) there. We are literally makeshift all the time.
