Brighton following their tried and tested transfer recruitment model as they make multi-million bids to try and land Charlton Athletic striker Micah Mbick
The Athletic's Albion reporter Andy Naylor explains Seagulls' deal approach as they target England U20 international
Charlton Athletic striker Micah Mbick is a January transfer window target for Brighton.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein broke the news that the Premier League club have failed with two offers, the latest with a fixed fee in the region of £2.5million that was potentially worth up to £3.5m.
Ornstein has described Brighton as weighing up another approach for the player.
The Addicks have no desire to sell Mbick, who was loaned to Colchester United in the summer, but the question is whether the interest from Albion will turn the head of the 19-year-old centre-forward, whose performances in League Two this season led to an England U20 call-up.

Mbick cannot play for another club this season after featuring for Charlton in their EFL Cup tie against Cambridge United as a second-half substitute. He has scored six goals in 19 league outings for Colchester United.
Charlton are well-protected when it comes to his contract situation. Mbick signed a new deal in July that runs until the summer of 2028 with the option of an extra 12 months.
Jones confirmed to South London Sport: Charlton Athletic Edition last week that Mbick was set to stay with Colchester for the remainder of the season.
